NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old man died after he was allegedly run over by a JCB machine in northwest Delhi’s Shakurpur area on Saturday morning, police said.
The incident took place around 10am near a graveyard in Shakurpur, following which a police team reached the spot.
The victim, identified as Md Hussain, a local resident, succumbed to his injuries.
The JCB driver, Ashish (23), a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh district, was caught by locals at the scene and later handed over to the police.
According to preliminary findings, the accused was driving the machine towards Beriwala Bagh for park levelling work when the incident occurred.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation is underway.
