NEW DELHI: Delhi's new health minister Satyendra Jain pledged to donate his organs to the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) on Tuesday. He said that organ donation is a noble act and the greatest service to humanity.
"Thousands of people-patients suffering from life-threatening diseases such as kidney or liver failure-die because they are unable to get organs needed to conduct transplant.
What can be a greater service to humanity than saving such lives by donating one's organs post-death?" said Jain. He said that more people should come forward to pledge their organs. Director of ILBS S K Sarin urged people to donate organs saying "organ donation and pledging is worthwhile at any age".
