Delhi Haat INA fire: Government offers Rs 5L compensation, free stalls to help artisans recover losses

The Delhi government will provide Rs 5 lakh in financial aid to each of the 24 artisans whose stalls were destroyed in the Delhi Haat fire on April 30. Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra announced that the artisans will also receive free stalls at Delhi Haat in INA for six months, from July 1 to December 31, allocated via lottery.

NEW DELHI: Delhi government will extend financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the 24 artisans whose stalls were destroyed in the April 30 fire at Delhi Haat, tourism minister Kapil Mishra announced. In addition to the compensation, the affected artisans will be given stalls at Delhi Haat in INA free of charge for six months — from July 1 to December 31. The stall allotment will be carried out through a lottery system, Mishra said. He further noted that Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta had previously announced the Rs 5 lakh ex gratia compensation for each artisan. The relief package, totaling Rs 1.20 crore, has received official approval and will be disbursed shortly."Our government is committed to safeguarding the interests of artisans and providing them with the necessary support," Mishra said to news agency PTI. He added that these relief measures are intended to help artisans recover from their losses and restart their livelihoods.
