NEW DELHI: Probe by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Delhi Police into the northeast Delhi riots found that the congregation at Jafrabad metro station on February 23 was the precursor to a “premeditated conspiracy” aimed at fuelling riots in the area.
An FIR lodged by Delhi Police said that cops got to know that schools in the area, where children from the minority community studied, were specifically vacated in a planned manner before the terraces and homes were stocked with Molotov cocktails, bricks and stones.

A man named Danishfrom Bhajanpura was tasked with aggregating people to fuel violence and he was in constant touch with former JNU student Umar Khalid, cops said.
The FIR named Khalid, Danish and their associates as accused.Police said that Danish was given the task of bringing in people from outside. “They made women and children come out on streets at various locations in Delhi and agitate. Their conspiracy resulted in the use of firearms, petrol bombs and other weapons during the riots in places like Maujpur, Jafrabad, Kardampuri and others,” the FIR alleged.
“Khalid and his associates, who were members of different groups, hatched this conspiracy. Khalid delivered inciting speeches at different locations and asked people to come out on the streets during the two-day India visit of US President Donald Trump. He also appealed to people to block roads so that they could propagate their agenda before the international community,” the FIR said.
