NEW DELHI: A gang that allegedly prepared fake visas and other travelling documents to cheat people has been busted.
Earlier, police received a complaint from Gurnoor Singh, who runs a coaching centre, in which he alleged that one Amit Gaur contacted him through social media. “Gaur told him that he can arrange tourist and study visas for Australia. The complainant sent five students to the accused for the Australian tourist visa,” DCP (IGIA) Tanu Sharma said, adding that Rs 18 lakh was given to the accused who later gave five fake tourist visas to the complainant.
Police apprehended Gaur who told them that he came in contact with agents operating across India in 2017. Later, a team from IGIA police station conducted raids in Tagore Garden and nabbed one Nitin Nazra. His office in Azadpur was raided and 19 passports, 26 forged visas, over 165 immigration stamps and other documents were recovered.
In another case, 32 people were deported from Turkey after they were found travelling with fake passports.
