NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Thursday took cognisance of a criminal defamation complaint filed by BJP leader
Vijender Gupta against chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy
Manish Sisodia for allegedly "maligning" his image by accusing him of attempting to kill the AAP chief.
Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Samar Vishal court will hear the matter on June 24 when Gupta's statement will be recorded.
In his plea, Gupta alleged that Kejriwal scripted the incident where the CM was slapped during a roadshow on May 4 and blamed BJP for it.
Gupta claimed that while he has just 1.2 lakh followers on Twitter, the chief minister and Sisodia have 1.49 crore and 18 lakh followers, respectively. "Kejriwal's tweet was retweeted 3,194 times and Sisodia's 1,301 times...The tweets might have reached and been read by many people in and outside Delhi," he said in his plea.
