Delhi court sends gangster Deepak 'Boxer' to 8-day police custody
Deepak Pahal, also known as Deepak Boxer, is one of the most wanted gangsters of the Delhi-NCR. Deepak, a winner in a national-level boxing championship, stepped into the world of the crime around 2014-15.
Deepak Boxer came to limelight when he freed gangster Jitendra Mann alias Gogi from police custody in Haryana seven years ago.
Deepak Boxer became head of the Gogi gang after the killing of Gogi in the Rohini court complex in Delhi. Gogi was shot dead by two assailants on September 24, 2021.
Deepak Boxer was also involved in attacking police personnel at the Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital in Delhi two years ago and helped Fajja, a wanted criminal, flee from police custody.
Deepak Boxer was wanted in connection with the killing of builder Amit Gupta, who was shot at several times in his left leg and abdomen on August 23, 2022, in north Delhi's Burari.
Deepak used a fake passport to flee the country. He took a flight to Mexico from Kolkata using the alias Ravi Antil. Then from Dubai, he went to Almaty, Kazakhstan, and reached Turkey. He then headed for Spain. After taking multiple routes, he finally reached Mexico.
Deepak Boxer was arrested on April 4, 2023, by the Delhi Police's Special Cell from Mexico with the help of the United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Deepak Boxer will be brought back to India within two days, and then will be interrogated in connection with his criminal activities and alleged involvement the killing of builder Amit Gupta.
Deepak Pahal, also known as "Boxer," was apprehended earlier this week in Cancun, Mexico, as he attempted to enter the US illegally with plans to run his organized crime organization from there. According to Delhi Police, he traveled through several different countries in North America on his way to the US.
The Delhi Police has achieved a significant triumph by apprehending a notorious gangster outside the country for the first time.
A team of two Delhi Police officers succeeded in capturing the criminal and bringing him back to India.
The police have revealed that the fugitive, Boxer, had absconded from the country using a false passport under the name of "Ravi Antil," claiming to be a resident of Bareilly. The authorities will further question him regarding his criminal actions and his suspected role in the murder of a builder in North Delhi's Civil Lines in August of last year.
Police had announced a reward of Rs 3 lakh on information leading to the arrest of Deepak, who led the Gogi gang, which is allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, police said.
The gangster is wanted in India in 10 sensational cases, including murder and extortion, over the last five years, they said.
