NEW DELHI: The crime branch has arrested three members of an inter-state gang that allegedly supplied weapons to other criminals in the city. The weapons were brought in Delhi from
Uttar Pradesh. Police have seized ten pistols and 26 cartridges from the accused.
DCP (crime) Ram Gopal Naik said that the supplier, Yashpal (38), belongs to Muzaffarnagar in UP while a man named Gurmeet Singh (25) from Tilak Nagar in Delhi was the middleman. The two were arrested supplying weapons to a criminal named Shahzad Ali Mulla (24) who lived in west Delhi's Ranhola.
Police have also seized five stolen bikes and Singh's WagonR. Mulla and Singh were nabbed from Dwarka, who led them to Yashpal. Popular said that the gang was gaining popularity as they were charging less for weapons than others gunrunners.
Mulla had come to Delhi from UP for higher studies and completed his graduation. However, he then came in contact with criminals and started committing vehicle thefts for easy money. In 2015, he was arrested by
Delhi Police for allegedly stealing 15 vehicles. He was subsequently arrested by UP Police as well.
