NEW DELHI: Two days after taking oath as Delhi chief minister, Rekha Gupta visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in the national capital on Saturday. They had previously met at the oath-taking ceremony at Ramlila Maidan on February 20, where the PM was present alongside Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other NDA leaders.
Earlier in the day, Gupta conducted a meeting with Public Works Department (PWD) officials to address infrastructure improvements in the national capital and road repairs.
The Delhi BJP posted on X: "Chief Minister @gupta_rekha held a meeting with the officials of the PWD department in the direction of improving the infrastructure of Delhi and also discussed in detail all the issues related to the dug up roads, damaged roads and traffic in Delhi and gave directions to the concerned officials."
Additionally, Delhi's PWD minister Parvesh Verma inspected department projects from Bhairon Marg to Sarai Kale Khan, Ring Road. During his visit, he engaged with constituents and officials to address their concerns and resolve issues.
"Make such a road which is good for 10-15 years, even though 5 years is the official time, you (the official) make sure it is good for 10-15 years," Verma instructed officials before reporters.
The minister enquired about a 4-km road stretch under repair and traffic management during closures. Officials informed him about lane-wise repairs, primarily conducted at night.
Former Delhi CM and AAP leader Atishi sent a letter to CM Rekha Gupta, raising concerns about the NCT government's delay in approving the Rs 2,500 scheme for women.
"The first cabinet meeting of your government was held in February 20, but the Rs 2,500 scheme for women was not passed. The mothers and sisters of Delhi had believed Modi ji's guarantee and now they feel cheated," Atishi stated in her letter.
The AAP leader requested a meeting with the Delhi CM on February 23 to discuss the matter.
