Once the 1.4km flyover opens, Road No. 56 passing through Anand Vihar ISBT will become entirely signal-free. This will give relief from traffic jams to people in Ramprastha Colony, Vivek Vihar and Shresth Vihar.

The project was planned in 2019, but the pandemic delayed its start. The foundation stone of the flyover was finally laid in Oct 2022 by former CM Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Assembly speaker Ram Niwas Goel.

The lack of tree-cutting permissions delayed the completion of side ramps of the flyover and a footpath, which are unlikely to be finished by the time the flyover opens.

There are also two trees in the middle of the flyover, which PWD plans to barricade and allow the traffic till the permission is provided by Delhi High Court. TNN
