Delhi Budget 2025 Live Updates: Govt to provide free laptops to 1,200 students passing class X, allocates Rs 750 crore, says CM Rekha Gupta

The Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, presented its first Budget in 27 years, with a record outlay of Rs 1 lakh crore, reflecting a 31.5% increase from the previous year. The Budget prioritizes infrastructure, transport, education, healthcare, and pollution control, with capital expenditure doubling to Rs 28,000 crore. Key allocations include Rs 1,000 crore for transport links, Rs 5,100 crore for women’s welfare, and Rs 2,144 crore for healthcare under PM Jan Arogya Yojana.

Ahead of the Budget Session, a symbolic "kheer" ceremony was performed to signify prosperity, and the government collected over 10,000 public suggestions for the Budget. However, opposition leader Atishi criticized the absence of the Economic Survey, questioning the Budget’s credibility. Gupta assured its release soon, citing audit delays. The Budget discussion and voting are scheduled for March 27.

This marks the first BJP-led Delhi Budget in 26 years, following the party’s victory over AAP in the recent elections.
