NEW DELHI: The recent spells of rain has brought much-needed relief to Delhi and its neighboring cities, leading to a noticeable improvement in air quality.
Nazafgarh recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 25, a rarity in a city that usually struggles with high pollution levels. This reading can be considered almost heavenly for the capital.
As per the latest data, as of 8am on Thursday, Delhi's overall AQI stood at 76, which falls under the 'satisfactory' category. The Central Pollution Control Board also reported promising figures from various parts of the city, with Ashok Vihar registering an AQI of 49, Patparganj 54, Chandni Chowk 56, and Punjabi Bagh 58.
However, the Anand Vihar area continued to experience air quality challenges, with its AQI measured at 102, placing it in the "moderate" category.
Noida AQIAccording to the Central Pollution Control Board, the AQI in Noida was recorded as follows: Sector 125 at 65, Sector 62 at 54, and Sector 1 at 51.
Gurgaon AQIThe AQI in Gurugram's Sector 51 was 85, while Teri Gram recorded an AQI of 51.
To put it in perspective, an AQI between 0 and 50 is classified as "good", 51-100 as "satisfactory", 101-200 as "moderate", 201-300 as "poor", 301-400 as "very poor", and 401-500 as "severe".
