Delhi car blast probe: First image of Red Fort bomber Umar Un Nabi spotted near mosque
NEW DELHI: An exclusive image accessed by TOI shows Dr Umar Un Nabi, the primary suspect in the Delhi Red Fort blast, taken near a mosque close. Investigators are closely examining his movements. The photograph offers fresh insight into the ongoing probe into the attack.
Notebooks and diaries recovered from the campus lodgings of two Al-Falah University doctors involved in the terror plot indicate that they had been planning multiple strikes for over two years, sources told TOI.

Evidence from room 13, where Dr Muzammil Ganaie lived, and Umar’s room, No. 4, points to a detailed terror plan. Investigators said the notebooks contained coded references, names, numbers, and dates from November 8-12, suggesting the doctors were planning multiple attacks.

The word “operation” was repeatedly scribbled throughout the diaries.
The diaries also listed 25-30 names, most of whom are from Jammu & Kashmir, Muzammil and Umar’s home state, or Faridabad and nearby areas, giving authorities an idea of the network within this “white coat” terror module.
Several university staff, including a compounder at Al-Falah Hospital, have been detained for questioning.
“The Delhi blast happened on November 10. Even if it was not meant to happen that day, the coded messages in the diaries suggest they were planning something big between November 8 and 12,” a source said.

Investigators are scrutinising anyone who may have assisted the suspects, including those who provided batteries, arranged vehicles, secured accommodations, and other university staff. Regular searches are being conducted to check for additional locations where explosives could be stored.
Police have recovered CCTV footage from toll booths and other locations, identifying several individuals seen with Umar in the days leading up to the blast.
On Wednesday, a red Ford EcoSport with the registration number DL10CK-0458, believed to belong to Umar, was recovered from Khandawli village in Faridabad.
The vehicle was scanned by the bomb squad to ensure it did not contain explosives. “We will have to check if the car was also used in the Delhi blast plot,” said Yashpal, a spokesperson for Faridabad police.

The timeline of events indicates a carefully coordinated operation. After Muzammil’s arrest on October 30, Umar left the university the same day and did not return.
He had been on leave from October 21 to 25. Investigators are trying to determine where he stayed during the 10 days after leaving the university and are working to identify anyone who may have assisted him during this period.
The National Investigation Agency, J&K police, Haryana police, and other agencies are coordinating to track down every operative and sleeper cell linked to the terror module.
Background checks revealed that Muzammil had previously posted on social media in support of Afzal Guru, executed for his role in the 2001 Parliament attack.
The discovery of 2,900 kg of explosives and arms and ammunition after Muzammil’s arrest has drawn criticism of intelligence agencies and Haryana Police for failing to detect the stockpiling of such materials.
Investigators believe Muzammil and Umar transported the weapons and ammonium nitrate to Faridabad in the 30 to 40 days preceding the blast, possibly bringing them from Jammu & Kashmir, raising concerns about potential cross-border links.
