Durgesh Pathak as its candidate for the assembly byelection in
Rajendra Nagar

Pathak was appointed as the election in-charge of the constituency earlier this month. He is also the in-charge of MCD for
AAP
.
Addressing a press conference on the election, senior AAP functionary and
Rajya Sabha
MP Sanjay Singh claimed that the BJP fears its defeat in the bypoll. "BJP functionaries have been exposed. Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta and the infamous Tajinder Singh Bagga have refused to contest in the bypolls," Singh said.
Delhi BJP general secretary Harsh Malhotra, however, said that the entire AAP was scared of the 'Pol Khol Abhiyan' being run by BJP and wanted it to end at the earliest.
Malhotra said the AAP was cheating the electorate of Rajendra Nagar by making an outsider contest the election from the constituency. "AAP is a party with a dictatorial mindset while we select a candidate with consensus," Malhotra said, adding that AAP MLA Raghav Chadha left the people of the constituency in a lurch and ran away midway.
