NEW DELHI: Five doctors have been debarred from duties after a woman delivered her baby outside the emergency wing of Safdarjung Hospital (SJH) as she was allegedly denied admission by the Centre-run facility.

The doctors have been debarred till the probe into the matter is completed, said the ministry of health and family welfare.

It added that the the lady and the newborn are currently in the care of the SJH hospital.


"On the direction of the Union health minister, a team from the Union health ministry visited Safdarjang Hospital for fact-finding in the matter of the delivery incident that took place at SJH today morning," reported ANI quoting health ministry.

Earlier in the day, the Delhi Commission for Women on Tuesday issued a notice to Safdarjung Hospital.

In the video that went viral, some women are seen standing around the pregnant woman with a saree, covering her during the delivery.

According to reports, the hospital has also initiated an inquiry into the incident.
