NEW DELHI: A fresh attack was launched by Delhi Commission of Women chief Barkha Singh against AAP’s Kumar Vishwas and Somnath Bharti on Thursday. She not only called them “anti-social elements” but also alleged that chief minister
Arvind Kejriwal was “protecting” them.
DCW recently referred a case against Kumar Vishwas to Delhi Police as he failed to appear before the commission.
“Devoid of any material evidence against Kumar Vishwas, the DCW closes the case against him,” said Singh in a statement.
She further said, “Counseling of anti-social elements is well out of the commission’s and my purview and the job belongs to Delhi Police. Elements like Vishwas and Bharti can only be counseled by Delhi Police since Delhi Commission of Women is devoid of prosecution powers. These elements are also being protected by Arvind Kejriwal.” She reasoned that Kejriwal had sided with these people when the DCW had approached him.
Singh also alleged that both Vishwas and Bharti have no respect for Delhi Commission of Women as despite repeated reminders they failed to appear before the commission. Calling AAP a “Mahila Virodhi Party”, she said, “Three women and many more are aggrieved by the party’s senior functionaries.” The three women, according to Singh, are Bharti’s wife Lipika Mitra, the woman “aggrieved by Vishwas” and herself as she was “threatened” twice after she took up the case.
The DCW chief has requested Delhi Police to take up the case against them and ensure justice to the aggrieved women. “Such people belong in jails and they are not fit for society,” she said.
