Custody extended

A trial court on Wednesday extended judicial custody of six suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists, accused of carrying out the September 13 serial blasts in the capital, by another 14 days.

new delhi: A trial court on Wednesday extended judicial custody of six suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists, accused of carrying out the September 13 serial blasts in the capital, by another 14 days.
Chief metropolitan magistrate Kaveri Baweja extended the judicial custody of the accused Mohammed Saif, Zeeshan Ahmed, Saquib Nissar, Zia-ur -Rehman, Mohd Shakeel and Mohd Hakhim till March 4 in cases registered by Connaught Place and Tilak Marg police stations.

Five separate cases were registered in Karol Bagh, Connaught Place, Greater Kailash Part-I and Tilak Marg police stations after the blasts and recovery of live bombs on September 13. The police have already filed chargesheets in the three cases. The serial blasts had claimed 26 lives and left several others injured.
The accused have been booked under various provisions of IPC, including those related to murder, attempt to murder and waging war against the country. The police have also invoked provisions of the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against them.
