NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Friday took cognisance of Delhi Police's Special Cell chargesheet against gangster Deepak Pahal alias Boxer in a case registered under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

The court has listed the matter for hearing on August 9.

The court, on July 11, refused to extend the investigation beyond 90 days in the case against Boxer, declared a proclaimed offender on December 9, 2020.

The court observed, "Provision has been made to meet those situations where despite making sincere efforts, the nature of the case, facts and evidence is such that investigation is not possible to complete in 90 days."

According to the prosecution, Boxer is a member of a crime syndicate of Jitender alias Gogi gang.

Delhi Police filed a chargesheet on July 13 against Boxer in this case, in which 15 others are in custody and charges have been framed against them. The matter is at the stage of prosecution evidence.

The court recently refused to extend investigation period, thereafter police filed a chargesheet against Boxer. This is a supplementary charge sheet in this case.
