Court convicts 6 of Bawana teacher’s murder in 2018
New Delhi: A court convicted six people of the murder of a woman in Bawana in Oct 2018, observing that the conspiracy behind the crime was proved beyond reasonable doubt. All the accused actively participated in executing the criminal conspiracy, the court of additional sessions judge Dhirendra Rana said on Monday.
The case involved the killing of 38-year-old Sunita Gupta, a school teacher. The murder was planned by her husband and others, including a woman with whom he had an affair. The woman, a model, hired killers and paid them Rs 10 lakh for killing Sunita. The court was hearing the case against Manjeet Sehrawat, Angel Gupta, Dharmender, Deepak, Vishal aka Johny and Shehzad Saifi. Sunita was fatally shot by assailants when she left home around 8am on Oct 29, 2018. All accused were convicted under sections 302 (murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code while Saifi, Vishal and Dharmender were also convicted under Arms Act.
