Court allows ED to file reply on MLA’s waqf board case
New Delhi: A Delhi court on Tuesday allowed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to file a reply on the anticipatory bail plea of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan in the Delhi Waqf Board money laundering case. The court of special judge Rakesh Syal listed the matter for Feb 24. “Let the reply be filed on or before the next date, with an advance copy to the opposite side. Put up for arguments on the above application on 24.02.2024,” the court said.Khan has been summoned by the ED on Monday. The ED submitted before the court that Khan had approached Delhi High Court against the summons but the petition was withdrawn. This fact has been concealed by the applicant, the ED told the court.Khan’s counsel submitted before the court said that the ED wanted this application to become infructuous, adding that three summonses have already been issued to the applicant. He sought protection till the next date of hearing. On Monday, the court issued notice to ED on the anticipatory bail application. It is investigating Khan in connection with a case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his role in the alleged irregularities in recruitment of staff and leasing of properties of the Delhi Waqf Board.Last month, a Delhi court took cognisance of the ED chargesheet and directed the supply of copies to the accused person's legal representatives. The ED has filed a chargesheet against Zeeshan Haider, his partnership firm Skypower, Javed Imam Siddiqui, Dawood Nasir and Qausar Siddiqui. The agency has alleged that a property worth Rs 36 crore was purchased with ill-gotten money at the behest of Khan, who is the AAP MLA from Okhla. The allegations include misappropriation of properties worth Rs 100 crore and providing jobs to people in Delhi Waqf Board along with siphoning of funds.
