The Karnataka high court on Wednesday granted interim bail for six weeks to jailed actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, prime accused in the Renukaswamy murder case. The bail was granted to the actor on medical grounds to undergo spine surgery. As per the bail condition, the actor has been asked to surrender his passport. Darshan is currently lodged in Karnataka's Ballari jail.

Shrinivas Vanga, the current MLA from Palghar representing Shiv Sena, disappeared from his Talasari residence on Monday evening after being denied an election ticket. The party chose former MP Rajendra Gavit, who switched from BJP to Sena, as its candidate for the 2024 assembly elections. While Gavit submitted his nomination papers on Tuesday, there were expectations that Vanga might contest as an independent. Expect a noisier Diwali and Kali Puja this year, with firecrackers being sold in the market that, when burst, will emit noise up to 40% more than those permitted for sale in the past 25 years. This follows a revised notification from the state pollution control board (PCB) that has increased the noise limit of crackers from 90 dB to 125 dB. Milo, a five-year-old spaniel whose family had entrusted him to the care of a boarding facility at a residential area in Sector 122, was found dead when they returned from their trip two weeks later. Police said they have registered a case against the boarding facility's owner after a complaint on animal cruelty was filed by the Delhi-based family.
