NEW DELHI: A Delhi consumer court has asked two doctors and a hospital to pay a patient Rs five lakh for being 'grossly negligent' by wrongly removing his kidney in an operation.

NEW DELHI: A Delhi consumer court has asked two doctors and a hospital to pay a patient Rs five lakh for being ''grossly negligent'' by wrongly removing his kidney in an operation.
"The Deepak Memorial Hospital and Medical Research Centre and the doctors (Dr Deepak Arora and Dr R M Mittal) have been grossly negligent which has resulted in permanent disablement of the complainant," the state consumer disputes redressal commission said.

R C Lamba, the complainant had gone to the hospital on February 19, 1998 with severe abdominal pain. After a surgery for a kidney stone removal, the doctors told him that the diagnosis was wrong.
