NEW DELHI: When a mob claiming to be traders surrounded his school bus and started pelting it with stones, five-year-old Rohan Dayal along with 30-odd other schoolmates from DPS Dwarka on way home witnessed terror first-hand on Wednesday. "Hamari bus ko atankwadiyon ne gher liya (our bus was surrounded by terrorists)" was how Rohan described the incident in which a few of his schoolmates sustained minor injuries.
Some five buses, all on their way to Dwarka's residential complexes, were targeted by the mob. The children became a soft target as their buses were caught in the blockade set up by protesters around 11.30 am. The school had closed early on account of exams. Thirteen-year-old Kshitij Asthana told TOI, "Once our buses reached Dwarka residential area, mobs encircled us." The protesters asked students and teachers to get off. Even as students were being rushed out, the mob started pelting stones. A few students sustained injuries.
