NEW DELHI: Congress candidate Alka Lamba has lost

seat with receiving just 3,881 votes. She could garner only 5.03 per cent votes.
Aam Aadmi Party's Parlad Singh Sawhney has defeated Suman Kumar Gupta of the Bharatiya Janata Party by 29,584 votes in this constituency.
Sawhney got 50,891 votes while total 77,199 votes were polled.
"I accept the result, but don't give up. Hindu-Muslim votes were completely polarised. The #Congress Party will now have to prepare for a new fight with new faces and a long struggle for the people of #Delhi. If you fight today, you will also win tomorrow," Lamba tweeted in Hindi.
Lamba, who had won from Chandni Chowk on an AAP ticket in the 2015 polls, was expelled from AAP last year after she joined Congress, citing differences with Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Hoping voters are disillusioned by this musical chairs, the dark horse, BJP’s Suman Kumar Gupta, was hoping to sneak through on the appeal of nationalism that his party espouses.
Sitting MLA Lamba represented the long support that Chandni Chowk had given to Congress. BJP’s Suman Kumar Gupta, the runner-up in 2015, believed that Delhi would go the way of the 2019 Lok Sabha election and repose full trust in PM Narendra Modi.
