NEW DELHI: A middle-aged man had a miraculous escape on Monday when his speeding car turned turtle in front of the Oberoi Hotel. According to the southeast district police, it was the airbag of his Honda City that saved him.
One traffic policeman who was on duty near the spot, narrowly escaped being injured in the incident. Police said that the driver of the car - a resident of Rana Pratap Bagh - was immediately taken for treatment but now faces police action.
"We have registered a case of negligent driving against him," a police officer said.

He was the only occupant of the car when the incident happened.
The accident led to a massive traffic jam on the pilot BRT corridor. Starting from Defence Colony, it affected traffic till Sunder Nagar and also spilled over to Lodhi Road and parts of Mathura Road. It took over an hour for the traffic to clear.
"The jam could be cleared only after the car was towed away from the accident site," said a traffic police officer.
