Bollywood director Vipin Handa charge sheeted

NEW DELHI: The Delhi police has charge sheeted Bollywood director Vipin Handa alleging criminal intimidation and wrongful confinement levelled by a relative.
The chargesheet against Handa, his sister Kiran Sehgal, her husband S R Sehgal, the couple''s son Rajat and daughter Erika was filed in the court of metropolitan magistrate Digvinay Singh.
The police had initially declined to register the case and acted only following a court direction.
The police alleged that Handa, Rajat and one Siraj attacked the complainant Sanjay Malhotra, who was married to Erika at her parental residence in September 2001.
The attack followed a heated exchange of words between the couple over Erika''s refusal to send their son Ruchit with Sanjay to his parent''s home in Lucknow.
The accused then implicated him in a false case and he was arrested by sub- inspector Rajbir Singh of Kotla Muba-rakpur police station.
Following complaints, a vigilance inquiry was conducted against Singh where he was censured for the arrest and subsequently arrested along with the rest of the accused by the police in June this year.
The accused are presently out on bail.
