Blast in LPG van, 2 hurt

NEW DELHI: Two persons were injured when a blast took place in a LPG-run van in Malviya Nagar on Friday. The rear door of the van flew up to a distance of 30 metres and hit the victims, who were travelling on a motorcycle.

though using lpg for running vehicles has been legalised, the use of domestic gas cylinders can lead to impounding of the vehicle. in the malviya nagar incident, the van owner was illegally using a domestic lpg cylinder. malviya nagar sho dharamvir dutt said, "an inverter mechanic, sanjay, and his assistant, chintoo, were travelling on a motorcycle when hit by the van's rear door." parked outside n-56 b, malviya nagar, the van belonged to an employee of a courier company. at the time of the incident, the driver, deepak arora, had gone to fetch water to douse a minor fire in the van. "deepak said he saw fumes in the vehicle and went to bring water," said dutt.
