Environment minister Gopal Rai
on Wednesday slammed the
BJP alleging that while Delhi government was actively looking to find solutions to solve the issue of air pollution, BJP members were spreading lies to malign the state government’s image.
Hitting back on allegations that no farmers were receiving the bio-decomposer solution in Delhi, Rai said over 2,000 acres of land across Delhi had seen the solution get sprayed after farmers filled forms. The minister added that Delhi government had also filed a petition with
the Air Quality Commission
. “Delhi government is actively taking measures to fight pollution, but BJP functionaries on the other hand, despite living in Delhi, are telling lies to malign the image of our government,” said Rai.
The minister said BJP members are not seen participating in any campaign to control dust or
biomass
burning. “BJP functionary Vijay Gupta took to the streets to protest against our 'Red Light On Gaadi Off' campaign, but no BJP member is participating in any campaign of their own,” said Rai, stating that the experiment to turn stubble into manure had been successful.
Stating that it took Delhi government 20 days to spray the solution across Delhi’s farmlands, Rai said it took the BJP leaders only a day’s visit to make a complete assessment of the situation. “BJP said the Pusa institute has told them that Delhi government has bought no such capsule from the institute. What can be a bigger lie than this? We have taken assistance from scientists from the institute,” Rai explained.
