BJP targets CM with rape stir at her door
NEW DELHI: The anti-rape protests assumed a decidedly political hue on the third day. The BJP took out a torch march to chief minister Sheila Dikshit’s house. More than 100 party members set out from Pandit Pant Marg on Tuesday with life-size banners of the CM, which dubbed her a ‘failure’.
Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel said the chief minister had to take responsibility for the lawlessness in the city.

“We are seeking an appointment with the President for Dikshit’s resignation,” said Goel. “She has admitted there is lawlessness. She cannot make excuses about not having control of the police,” Goel added.
The party workers were intercepted by the cops. They clambered over the barriers only to encounter further resistance. Undeterred, they charged at chief minister’s posters with lathis and set them on fire. Just when the cops felt the tumult had died down, a group of protesters tried to enter her house from behind.
The police tried to fend off the protesters, who stormed the barricades. After a 15-minute drama, Goel and his party members were pushed into buses and detained.
