BJP misleading people with tariff promises: Sheila Dikshit
NEW DELHI: Chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday hit out at the BJP, which has been claiming to reduce power tariff by 30% if it comes to power. While attending a function in north Delhi, Dikshit said those who promise to slash the tariff will achieve this by reducing the power supply in the city by 30%.
Dikshit said her government is giving 24X7 power supply at a price which is much cheaper than most cities in India. "Up to 78% of families in Delhi are covered under our subsidy given to 200-400 unit consumers. The power that we give to you comes at a cost that we pay to other states," added Dikshit.
Slamming the opposition for raising the issue of unemployment in the capital, Dikshit said that if Delhi had no job opportunities then over five lakh job seekers would not have come here every year.
"Did you ever hear about any person who came to Delhi in search of a job and returned back?
Whosoever comes here, settles down because they get everything in Delhi - work, shelter, power, roads and all other comforts," added Dikshit. With the election date out for Delhi- December 4 - Dikshit said that Delhiites should cast their votes with utmost responsibility. "Your vote will decide your future. You have to decide what kind of development you want. Our development is clearly visible. It is the kind of development that you can feel," said Dikshit.

Highlighting her government's achievements, Dikshit said hundreds of young voters would have been five or six years old when we started Delhi Metro.
"They have no clue of Delhi without Metro because now we have connected most parts of the city with it. In the coming years, we will make things even better," she said, adding that her party would also ensure that Delhi is free from slums and JJ colonies in the coming time.
"In next 5-7 years we give houses to each and every dwellers of J J cluster," she said.
The event was organized by the local Congress leaders of Shakurbasti. Minister for transport Ramakant Goswami also attended the event.
