NEW DELHI: BJP leader Pravesh Ratan, who contested 2020 Delhi Assembly elections from the Patel Nagar reserved seat, joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday. He made the switch in front of senior AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Durgesh Pathak at the party headquarters.

This move comes after former AAP MLA Raaj Kumar Anand from Patel Nagar joined the BJP earlier. Anand resigned as a minister in the Delhi government and left AAP in April, later being disqualified as an MLA.

In July, Anand was joined by another AAP MLA, Kartar Singh Tanwar, in the BJP.

Ratan, who contested as a BJP candidate in 2020, lost to Anand by more than 30,000 votes. The two may compete against each other again in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections as candidates for their new parties.

Ratan said he was inspired by AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and his efforts to help people, especially those from weaker sections, by providing free services.
