Bizman plots to steal lent money, arrested
New Delhi: A businessman from Jama Masjid area, along with two of his associates, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly hatching a plot to steal money he had lent to a man and ask him to return it later. The arrests came after Mohammad Abid (27), who operates a car business in Kerala, filed a police complaint alleging he was robbed of Rs 10 lakh that he had borrowed from his friend Mohammad Ali.“Abid urgently needed the amount for a business deal and had entered into an agreement with Ali, who loaned him Rs 10 lakh on December 14. As the victim boarded an e-rickshaw to go to Red Fort, two men snatched the bag containing the money and fled on a two-wheeler,” said Manoj Kumar Meena, deputy commissioner of police (North).A case under IPC sections 379 (theft) and 34 (common intention) was registered at Kotwali police station. After analysing footage from more than 300 CCTV cameras, Delhi Police identified the two-wheeler and its owner as Anas Wazid, who was subsequently arrested from north Delhi.Meena said Wazid confessed to his role and led police to another associate, Abrar Ahmad, who was nabbed. The duo said Ali was the mastermind and had roped them in to steal the borrowed funds from Abid. Police said about Rs 8 lakh of the stolen amount was recovered. The accused have been remanded in judicial custody.
