new delhi: a waiter working at bina ramani's restaurant where jessica lal was shot dead, on tuesday testified before the court that ramani had asked him to clean the blood from the floor. "the body (of jessica) still had movement. bina ramani told me to clean the blood on the floor before jessica lall was removed to the car," prosecution witness madan kumar admitted during cross-examination by defence lawyers.
model jessica lall was allegedly shot dead on the night intervening april 29 and 30, 1999 by the main accused manu sharma at ramani's restaurant at qutub colonnade, when she refused to serve him liquor saying it was past time. "i saw some people rushing in and some people rushing out, shouting goli lag gai, jessica lall ko goli lag gai (shot, jessica lall has been shot)," madan kumar told additional district and sessions judge r l chugh. he said when he ran downstairs he saw the restaurant manager jatinder raj, bina ramani and electrician shiv dass among other people present there. "when i saw jessica lall lying on the floor, i also saw that she had some injury on the forehead from which the blood was coming out. there was also blood on the floor," madan said. according to him, shiv dass brought a sheet of cloth and wrapped jessica in it. while her legs were in madan's lap, jitender held her head. then she was carried to a maruti esteem car and taken to hospital. bina ramani also went along. ''at that time, when she was being removed, jessica lall was alive. movement of body was also there,'' he told the court. besides manu sharma, eight others who face trial in related offences include: amardeep singh gill, alok khanna, shyam sundar sharma and vikas yadav.
