Bail granted to woman accused of introducing conman to actor

to Bollywood actress

Jacqueline Fernandes

, in a Rs 200 crore

money laundering case

, saying no fruitful purpose will be served in keeping the accused in further custody.

Since the investigation has been completed with respect to the accused and the evidence, which is mostly documentary in nature, has been collected, there is no possibility of the accused tampering with the evidence, additional sessions judge Parveen Singh stated.

The court also noted that Irani was a woman of advanced age.

“Considering the overall facts and circumstances, I find no fruitful purpose will be served by keeping the accused in further custody,” the judge said in an order on February 15.

The court granted the relief to Irani on furnishing a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh with one surety of like amount in the matter.

Advocate RK Handoo, appearing for Irani, had submitted that it was nowhere alleged in the prosecution complaint that Irani had helped Sukesh in the generation of proceeds of crime or as to how she would have known that Sukesh was spending proceeds of crime.
