NEW DELHI: Autos and taxis will be off the roads in Delhi on Friday to highlight problems being faced by the operators of CNG-run vehicles due to shortage of filling stations.

new delhi: autos and taxis will be off the roads in delhi on friday to highlight problems being faced by the operators of cng-run vehicles due to shortage of filling stations. the strike, to coincide with the hearing of the cng case by the supreme court, will be supported by bus operators, who will participate in a march to be taken out from rajghat to supreme court, the operators announced on thursday.

the bus operators, however, will not take their vehicles off the road on that day. the operators are protesting against inadequate number of cng filling stations which is causing delay of several hours. "many times the drivers spend the whole night waiting to fill gas," ganesh bhudhiraja, chairman of delhi auto rickshaw sangh and delhi pradesh taxi union, told pti. he said these delays were causing monetary losses besides the mental and physical harassment to the drivers. the operators and drivers will also take out a march from rajghat to supreme court which will be led by by former delhi chief minister and bjp leader madan lal khurana. the mps of delhi and city bjp chief mange ram garg would participate in the march. the transporters have also decided to launch an agitation against the cng crisis and formed a joint action committee under convenorship of former minister harsharan singh balli to spearhead it.
