The latest trends from the Delhi Assembly election results show the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) surpassing the majority mark with 48 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) trails behind with 22 seats.

In a major blow to AAP, Arvind Kejriwal lost his re-election bid from the New Delhi constituency to former BJP MP Parvesh Verma, who had been withheld from contesting the previous Lok Sabha elections.

Kejriwal fell short by around 4,000 votes, while Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit trailed in third.

This outcome reignites debates over the rift between AAP and Congress, both key members of the struggling INDIA bloc, with questions raised about whether a coalition might have helped Kejriwal retain his seat.

Meanwhile, in another setback for AAP, former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia was defeated by BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah in the Jangpura constituency by a narrow margin of 600 votes.

Sisodia, acknowledging his loss, congratulated Marwah, saying, “Our party workers did their best. The people supported us, but I lost by 600 votes. I wish the winning candidate well and hope he serves the constituency.”

In an additional loss for AAP minister Saurabh Bhardwaj was defeated by BJP's Shikha Rai in Greater Kailash constituency.

Bhardwaj lost by 3,139 votes after the 14th round of counting.

In a silver lining for AAP, current Delhi chief minister Atishi secured a victory in Kalkaji, South Delhi, despite the BJP’s overwhelming success in the city and the defeat of top AAP figures.

Atishi, who had won the seat in 2020, triumphed over BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress’s Alka Lamba.
