Arvind Kejriwal to discuss Delhi assembly polls with party leaders at 5pm today

NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), will meet party leaders today in Pitampura, Delhi, at 5 pm in preparation for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

Sources indicate that AAP is unlikely to participate in the Jharkhand and Maharashtra assembly polls. Instead, the party aims to concentrate on the Delhi elections to avoid confusing voters and possibly splitting the anti-BJP vote. The party is focusing on strengthening the INDIA Bloc.

Despite the interest of the Maharashtra AAP unit in contesting the elections, a nod from the top leadership seems improbable. A source stated, "Our focus is Delhi and we don't want to create further confusion in minds of voters in Maharashtra which could lead to splitting anti-BJP votes."

On Wednesday, Arvind Kejriwal launched AAP's 'Jan Sampark Abhiyan' at the party headquarters. As part of this program, Kejriwal pledged to address every question from Delhi residents through personal letters.

He explained, "There are many questions in the minds of the public, including why I went to jail? To answer all those questions, I have written a letter to the people of Delhi, which will be taken by Aam Aadmi Party workers to every house in Delhi by 29 October."

Assembly polls in Delhi are expected to take place in early 2025. In the 2020 assembly elections, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP secured eight seats.

Earlier, Kejriwal emphasized the importance of not being overconfident, sharing his thoughts with AAP workers following the Haryana election results.

On October 8, during a meeting with AAP municipal councilors in Delhi, he said, "Elections are approaching. Elections should not be taken lightly. The biggest lesson from today's election is to never be overconfident. Every election, seat is tough."
