NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police have arrested an architect who allegedly procured loan from a multinational bank on the basis of forged documents. The accused, Ruchi Singh Bedi is a graduate from Roorkee University.
The police have also arrested Davinder Bisht who helped Bedi to avail the loan even though she had given forged papers to hide her real identity.
Bisht works as a direct sub-agent for the bank.
DCP (EOW) Dinesh Bhat said: "Bedi took the loan to purchase a house in Sushant Lok, Gurgaon. She impersonated as Anamika Singh because she owned a debt of several lakh of rupees to banks which had issued credit cards to her in the name of Ruchi Singh Bedi."
Since the accused had not paid up to these banks, her name had been blacklisted. So Bedi could not avail a loan from any MNC bank under her original name. Bhat said: "She was in need of money to purchase the house and hence impersonated."
In order to prove her identity as Anamika, Bedi submitted documents like a statement of ABN Amro Bank, a driving licence, LIC premium receipt, income tax return and a rent agreement. The bank sanctioned the loan. The accused purchased a flat in Gurgaon. "She tried to cheat several persons on the pretext of selling her property. She duped three persons by taking part payment from them," Bhat said.
