NEW DELHI: The Delhi Times announced the second winner of the Indica V2 car at the end of the first week of the ‘Big CP sale’ on Sunday. The contest is open to shoppers till the end of the sale and there is a car to be won every week.
Poonam Agarwal, a manager with the Oriental Bank of Commerce, was informed of the prize by Femina Miss India (second runner-up) 2002 Tina Chhatwal on Sunday evening.
‘‘I am feeling great about winning the car. Although we bought a Indica just two months back, it is being used by my husband. I wanted one for myself and I am thankful to Delhi Times,’’ said Poonam, ecstatic at having won.
Poonam, a resident of Prince Apartments in Patparganj, had shopped at Mohanlal Sons and Bentley. ‘‘The sales-persons at Bentley asked me to fill up the contest form. And somehow, I had the intuition that I would win. In fact, I was telling my friends that they would get a pack of sweets on Monday,’’ she said.
The winning ticket was drawn by Tina, who is looking forward to the beauty pageant to be held in Manila in November, 2002. Said Tina who informed Poonam over the telephone about the prize, ‘‘It’s a beautiful opportunity where one is present amidst the emotions of a prize-winner.’’
Tina also loves shopping and likes to wear clothes which fit her, rather than choosing something which is in vogue. ‘‘More such events should happen as it gives people a chance to shop and win,’’ the beauty queen said. The car is being offered as part of the scheme to spur excitement.
To win, a person has to shop for goods worth Rs 500 or more at any two participating outlets. On the second purchase, the customer gets to fill in the Delhi Times entry coupon. The lots are drawn each Sunday.
