Delhi property dealer dies in 'accidental' firing, cousin arrested after video goes viral
NEW DELHI: A day after a 28-year-old property dealer died allegedly in an accidental firing in east Delhi's New Ashok Nagar, police have arrested his cousin. A video has also surfaced showing the victim's final moments.
The deceased was identified as Pawan Kumar, a resident of Dallupura. Kumar was shot on the left side of his chest on Monday and declared brought dead at hospital, police said.
The weapon belonged to his cousin Himanshu (31), who has a valid licence and was recording the video, said police. The firearm, along with 10 live cartridges, and Himanshu's mobile phone have been seized.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, showed a man loading the gun as the person recording the video guided him. He then cocked the gun facing outwards before turning it to his chest and looking towards the camera. He went on to allegedly accidentally fire the pistol before collapsing on the floor as the person behind the camera panicked. Police are probing if they were making reels.
A case has been registered under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act at New Ashok Nagar police station against the cousin.
