AAP to contest from UP and Bihar, fields 3 candidates each

NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party will contest the

Lok Sabha polls

in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and has fielded three candidates in each of the states. In UP, AAP has fielded Yogesh Dahiya from Saharanpur, Satish Chandra Sharma from Aligarh and Shweta Sharma from Gautam Buddh Nagar. In Bihar, the party has given tickets to Aleemuddin Ansari for Kishanganj, Raghunath Kumar for Sitamarhi and Satyendra Kumar for Bhagalpur seats.

Sanjay Meshack will contest from

Andaman and Nicobar Islands

. He had contested the same seat in the previous LS election. Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Sunday announced the names on Twitter, adding that these had been cleared by the political affairs committee of the party. Unlike 2014, when it contested over 400 Lok Sabha seats, AAP is targeting a far lower number of constituencies “to utilise its available resources to the fullest extent”. The party has already announced candidates for all the seven LS seats of Delhi.

Apart from Delhi, the party will focus on Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Goa.
