NEW DELHI: BJP leader Anurag Thakur accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of supporting separatists and questioned the recent spate of hoax bomb threats to schools in Delhi. Thakur dubbed AAP a party of "algavwad", "atankwad", and "afwah" during a press conference on Monday.

Thakur claimed that Congress and AAP appear different outwardly but are the same inside. He said, "AAP came to power talking about corruption of the Congress. But now the 'A' in AAP is also known for 'arajakta' (anarchy), 'algavwad' (separatism), 'atankwad' (terrorism), 'afwah' (rumours) and 'apradhi' (criminals)."

According to Thakur, Congress and AAP were seen joining hands on the issues of hanging Afzal Guru and surgical strikes. He questioned, "Whose NGO came forward for commuting of Afzal Guru death sentence. Whose relatives, parents were part of it. Will (Delhi chief minister) Atishi and (Arvind) Kejriwal say something or keep mum?"

Thakur also asked which politicians stayed at the homes of "terrorist sympathisers" during Punjab polls and claimed that some political parties supported separatists and terrorists and received donations from them.

Regarding the recent hoax bomb threats to Delhi schools, Thakur said, "There are some who spread rumours of bomb blasts and put the parents of school children in Delhi under distress." He addressed Atishi and Kejriwal, asking, "Who are connected to those spreading bomb blast rumours. Atishiji, Kejriwalji will you respond?"

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva added that the AAP's "sleeper cell" has been trying to spoil the social harmony and peace in Delhi ahead of Assembly polls on February 5. He questioned why the hoax calls were received only by private schools and wanted to know who provided the data of schools to the juvenile accused.
