NEW DELHI: The Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced on Tuesday that AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal shall receive a government accommodation, which is his rightful entitlement as the head of a national party.
At a press briefing, Khattar confirmed that Kejriwal qualifies for a Type VII bungalow due to his position as the national party president.
He further clarified that presently all Type VII bungalows are occupied.
"At present, we only have Type V and VI bungalows available, but there is currently no availability of Type VII bungalows. Kejriwal will be allotted a Type VII bungalow as soon as it is available," Khattar said
The AAP has consistently requested central government housing for Kejriwal, stating his eligibility as the national party convenor.
The organisation recently submitted a formal request to the Union Housing Ministry regarding this matter.
Following his resignation as Delhi chief in September, Kejriwal relocated to the official residence of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal at 5 Ferozeshah Road in October.
