AAP announces candidates for Delhi mayor election

NEW DELHI: AAP leader Gopal Rai on Thursday announced their candidates for the upcoming Delhi mayor election.

"This year the mayor is to be elected from the reserved category. This time the mayor candidate from AAP will be Mahesh Khichi. He is a councillor from Dev Nagar Ward-84 of Karol Bagh," stated Rai.



"Ravinder Bhardwaj to be AAP's candidate for deputy mayor. He is a councillor from Aman Vihar Ward-41," he added. Both candidates are scheduled to file their nominations today at 12 noon.

With the AAP having 134 out of 250 councillors in the MCD, both its candidates are going to have a smooth ride in the polls.

The MCD mayor is elected for a one-year term. Delhi is set to elect its mayor and deputy mayor on April 26, 2024.
