New Delhi: Friends and family of 17-year-old
Sai Kumar, who was shot in the head at an eatery in southeast Delhi’s Amar Colony last week, have launched social media pages seeking justice as three accused remain absconding.
Sai remains critical at All India Institute of Medical Sciences Trauma Centre. A minor accused was apprehended earlier. An Instagram handle, @sai_ko_justice_do, is sharing updates on his condition, details of the incident and appeals from the family.
The page has over 1,800 followers and features a video message from Sai’s father,
Sunil Kumar, which has crossed 2 lakh views. “It was my son today. It could be your son tomorrow,” he says in the video recorded outside the emergency ward. “We are very distressed. We want all the accused to get strict punishment, including the death penalty,” he adds.
In another video, Sai’s mother says, “Sai is my only child. He is very young, a school student, and only 17. His health is very bad right now.” His grandmother also appears in a clip seeking justice for him. The account carries clips of media reports on the case.
On another platform, the family has posted a 16-part thread raising questions about the incident and public response.
“It has been three days. Sai’s condition is worsening each hour. The bullet has not been removed as he has not regained consciousness,” one post says. Others question bystander behaviour and the tendency to film incidents, while referring to the busy student hub in the area.
The thread also outlines the sequence of events leading up to the shooting and seeks to counter what the family calls misinformation online. Posters carrying similar messages have also been shared, with one caption stating: “This page is created to start the conversation on what happened on Tuesday night in Amar Colony.”
