85-year-old raped by grandson’s friend

NEW DELHI: An 85-year-old woman was raped by her grandson’s friend in Sangam Vihar on Monday night. According to the police accused Mahesh (22) was drunk when he sexually assaulted the victim. The police have arrested Mahesh.
The police said Mahesh had come to the victim’s house on Monday night to meet her grandson Lakhan Singh.
‘‘He lives in the same neighbourhood,’’ a senior police officer said.Nobody was present at home except for the victim and Lakhan Singh. At 10 pm, Mahesh and Lakhan Singh started drinking.
‘‘While they were having drinks there was a power-cut in the area. Lakhan Singh asked Mahesh to go to his grandmother who was sleeping on the first floor,’’ the officer said.
Lakhan Singh, meanwhile, went to the market to purchase candles. While he was out Mahesh allegedly raped the victim.
