Police athletic championship unites personnel in capital

New Delhi: As many as 1,123 police personnel from 25 states, four union territories and 10 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) came together at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday for the 73rd All India Police Athletic Cluster Championship.
The event, inaugurated by LG VK Saxena, brought together athletes from across the country to compete in 45 athletic events and seven cycling events. Praising the initiative, Saxena stressed the importance of sports in the lives of police personnel in particular. UP Police's Prince Kumar and Ujala won the gold medal in the 10km run in the male and female categories, respectively. With participants from various states and CAPFs, this championship fostered camaraderie competition among police personnel. "The championship didn't just showcase athletic prowess but also displayed teamwork and discipline, reflecting the values that are essential for police personnel," said an official.
The event was organised by Delhi Police under the aegis of the All India Police Sports Control Board, featuring both athletic and cycling competitions. TNN
