NEW DELHI: A 60-year-old handicapped man died after a fire broke out in his house in central Delhi’s Paharganj area on Monday afternoon.
According to Delhi Fire Services, a call about the blaze was received at around 2.40pm from a house in Chuna Mandi in Paharganj. Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and the fire was brought under control by 3.10pm.
Officials said the fire broke out in domestic articles on the third floor of the house. Ramesh (60), who was handicapped, suffered severe burn injuries and was rescued before being taken to RML Hospital by PCR, where doctors declared him dead.
His brother, Naresh (58) sustained minor burn injuries to his hand.
Police, including the local SHO, reached the scene, and further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
