NEW DELHI: A 55-year-old tutor was found brutally murdered at his house in north Delhi's Shastri Nagar area on Monday morning.
The victim,
Satish Gupta, was alone at his house in E-block at the time of the incident. His wife, Sharda, had gone to her brother's home for Rakhi. Gupta was found when his neighbour came to check on him after finidng the main gate of the house open.
Police said Gupta's hands and feet were bound and a bag weighing 15kgs had been kept on his face. His house, too, had been ransacked. Officers have not yet ruled out robbery as a motive as some jewellery is also missing from the house.
Senior police officials said the man died due to suffocation. Gupta's body has been sent for postmortem and police are questioning locals to determine who all visited the Gupta's house on Sunday. A case of murder under Section 302 IPC has been registered.
Police said Gupta, a retired school teacher, taught children living nearby on Sundays. His son is studying in Chennai.
