The Meteorological department, in its weather advisory, has forecasted that there will be heat to severe heat wave conditions in the plains of Northwest India and Bihar for the next 5 days. Additionally, heat wave conditions are expected to start in East and Central India from May 18.

In Punjab and Haryana, the temperature is also near 44 degrees Celsius and the conditions of the heatwave are similar to those in Uttar Pradesh.

Heat wave remained unabated in Rajasthan for the third consecutive day on Friday. Barmer remained hottest in Rajasthan and second hottest in the country where a maximum temperature of 46.5 degree Celsius was recorded.

With temperature soaring high, the demand for water has increased and Jaipur residents are now shelling out a premium to buy water from private tankers. The rate of tanker water has seen a hike of around four times the normal price.
Dry spell in Uttarakhand

highest temperature of the season on Friday, exceeding 40°C.
Heat related illnesses
From May 1 to 15, Ahmedabad recorded 3,610 heat related illnesses at the average of 241 cases per day. Of the total, 189 needed hospitalization. The most hospitalizations – 21 – were reported on May 2, according to AMC data.
Power outages
Noida saw heatwave conditions as the maximum temperature touched 45.2 degrees Celsius on Friday. Ghaziabad residents continue to face power outages as temperatures soar to 43 degrees Celsius. The outages are primarily attributed to local faults caused by overloading and planned shutdowns for repair works
